Fairebel, the Belgian 'fair' dairy brand won the Best corporate social responsibility report or initiative Award at the prestigious World Dairy Innovation Awards in London. Just like every year, big names of the global food industry featured among the entries. The jury’s decision to grant the award to the budding Belgian brand is a real boost for Fairebel, which continues to surprise and innovate.

During the World Dairy Innovation Awards in London, 211 dairy products from 37 countries were showcased. 18 Awards were presented, including the Best corporate social responsibility report or initiative for the best social or ‘fair’ project.

Naturally, Fairebel is ecstatic: "This award acknowledges our commitment, our enthusiasm and especially our flair for innovation. We have enabled farmers to unite in a cooperative and create their own brand. Based on solidarity and fairness. In concrete terms, this means that each farmer finally receives fair compensation for his work. We've gone even further by setting up COWfunding, enabling each citizen to be a consum'actor, to invest in Faircoop and become a member of the cooperative. Supporting our cooperative means tackling a new societal challenge."

Today, the brand with the black-yellow-red cow offers a lot more than 3 kinds of milk with an authentic taste. The range has been expanded with premium ice cream made from organic farm milk and GMO-free cheese from grass-fed cows. In 2015, a total of 7.2 million litres were processed under the Fairebel label.

Fairebel was founded at the beginning of 2010. Following the unprecedented crisis in the agricultural sector, the Belgian farmers launched their own label. Fairebel is a new, inclusive and 'fair' brand, making sure farmers receive a proper income for part of their work.
